DESCRIPTION

Forrest Beach is the surfing beach for the town of Ingham. Just 17km east of Ingham and the Bruce Highway, Forrest Beach, once a small holiday and fishing village, has recently come into its own as empty nesters and others looking to spend their days in magical, sunny weather and tropical surroundings, build their dream homes just meters from the beach. The township of Forrest Beach includes a Surf Club founded in 1928, an IGA, doctors’ surgery, pharmacy, primary school, Jenny’s news agency and post office, Venables real estate agency, newly refurbished hotel on the beach, fire brigade, Desiree’s hair salon, local mechanic, Reggie’s famous takeaway and other specialty-type stores and services. Unlike most north Queensland beaches, Forrest Beach has a stinger net that allows surfing and swimming all year round. Both professional and amateur fishermen travel for miles just to fish on the golden sands of Forrest Beach, or from their boats in the surrounding channels. Local rumor has it that there isn’t a better fishing spot in all of Queensland.

Most of the new homes now being constructed at Forrest Beach are only separated from the coastline by a small, tropical rainforest. While still relatively unknown, this modern-day hideaway is also known as Allingham. The people who either visit or live at Forrest Beach commonly describe it with the following words… peaceful, clean, relaxing, friendly, neighbourly and laid back. Forrest beach is a place where the kids can ride their bikes in safety, and you can stroll along the beach with your entire family… including the dog. The median house price in the area has increased greatly over the last few years as outsiders discover the hidden gem that is Forrest Beach. The median price of a dwelling in November 2010 was $355,000 (sourced from Real Estate.com). This figure is sure to have come down since the flooding of the state in January 2011. Median prices state-wide have been negatively affected. However, it shouldn’t be too long before the median prices throughout Queensland again head in an upward direction. Forrest Beach is a growing beach-side community that offers its residents an ideal sea-change from their former lives. However, whenever a craving for the hustle and bustle sets in, it’s only a 15-minute drive to Ingham, and an easy 90-minute drive down the Bruce Highway to Townsville. With coral blue sea to the horizon, and 20 kilometers of golden sand… it may just pay to come and see Forrest Beach for yourself?
